Ah, Lil' Troy, out of Houston, Texas. He's supposedly still around but was never able to follow-up on the success of his late 90's hit: "Wanna Be A Baller". I must admit, the song was somewhat of an anthem for me. Not in the sense that I was a "baller", or had Swishers rolled tight, or even drove in an Impala or Benz (my parents may be the ONLY Pilipinos in the US to have never owned a Mercedes). "Wanna Be A Baller" came out back in the day, when I used to carpool to the local community college. One of my friends, who I rolled to school with, drove a black, late 80's (maybe very early 90's), V6 Camaro. That thing had a sound system inside it worth more than the car itself. Even though we didn't have the nicest cars or pretty girls hanging off our arms, we could still feel good about ourselves by bumping Lil' Troy at full blast while bobbing our heads as we drove through the parking lot. Is it any wonder why the chicks weren't fighting over us?
