Bob Dylan DOES NOT sing this song. By listening, we can't deny that Gerry Rafferty's voice and Stealers Wheel's musical style is influenced by and draws some similarities to that of the great singer/songwriter. For some reason I woke up this morning wanting to create awareness about the fact that "Stuck In The Middle" belongs to Stealers Wheel (strange, I know). I think this tune has been considered strong since its release in 1973 but was popularized yet again when it was featured on the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's debut film, Reservoir Dogs.
The reason I like this tune because I think it's one of the funniest songs of all time. When I say funny, I don't mean it in the laugh out loud sense. Every time I hear "Stuck In The Middle" I think of how funny life and the circumstances and situations that come with it can be. I have a deep appreciation for the song because it illustrates the many states of being "stuck in the middle"--whether it's good, bad, or in between, I always seem to find myself there.
